The mission of the Sylvia Lake Association centers on the water. For years, this website has documented the efforts of the Association members to combat the spread of Eurasian Milfoil in our beautiful lake. There are a number of strategies that have been employed for the "Aquatic Invasive Management."
First it was "hand harvesting" then and now, we are using benthic barrier mats. Both of these solutions work moderately, but require incredible and dangerous activity. The Association is exploring other solutions but the primary concern is how to rid the problem areas of the weed without endangering fish habitat or the water.
The links below document the efforts of lake residents to battle the weed.
