The Sylvia Lake Association was formed in 1968, in part, to oppose ice fishing on Sylvia Lake. This position has never changed... should it change now? The DEC is proposing a number of changes to fishing regulations which would impact us. The Sylvia Lake Board asked for your opinion... and received them. Thank you to those who participated. It's heartening to know that many individuals care so deeply about our lake.
We set up an online opinion form for people to weigh in and add their voice to any statement given to the DEC about these changes. The Association will be submitting a statement to the DEC based on the feedback we received. The actual Association statement will be available as soon as it is completed.
Among the proposed changes:
- increasing the minimum size for muskies, establishing a daily creel limit of five fish, modifying trout regulations for Star Lake and Trout Lake, and establishing a year-round trout season on Sylvia Lake.
- Establishing an open year-round trout season for Sylvia Lake in St. Lawrence County, with a 12-inch minimum size limit and three fish daily creel limit, with ice fishing permitted;
