Very windy today. The water was sloshing around a lot, but the level is at 13 inches. So, we've got flow!

Remember that my unofficial baseline is Andy and Norinne Dickson's old cement dock.
This dock is exposed and just at water level when the lake was at a low point.
On Friday, September 16, the dock was dry and the water was at this low point.
That's my baseline.

October 15, 2005

After this seemingly endless succession of gray, rainy days, it's no wonder the water is up again. Measurement today indicated an even higher level than our highest reading this fall. Our baseline level was taken September 18.

The lake is up 17 inches from that point...and it is rising and still raining off and on.

October 3, 2005

Water level is 10.5 inches up from the September 16, 2005 base measurement. Heard from Gale Ferguson this morning that he, Gary Scott, Rob, Frank Langevin, and Tim Prashaw are on a mission to lower lake level today. We can expect pictures and information about that expedition later today.

September 22, 2005

Lea says it's sloshing a lot, but measured 12.5 inches - down from 14.5 inches four days ago.
It's still up over a foot from September 17, 2005...

On Sunday, September 18, 2005- Watertown Daily Times reported:

In the village of Gouverneur, firefighters pumped out about 55 basements through the night and Saturday morning. Two cellar walls collapsed and one woman was evacuated to spend Friday night at Lawrence Manor, Fire Chief Robert W. Gleason said. The Town of Fowler closed two roads.

The end of the yardstick you see in the picture, is resting on a low dock that, on Friday, had been dry. On the morning of Sunday, September 18, 2005, the water level in Hotel Bay had risen 14 inches.
