On December 20, 2004, the water "boiled" at Sylvia Lake.

The temperature was 20 degrees below zero that morning.

The water was considerably warmer than -20°, so the surface water sank
and the warmer water rose to the surface, creating turbulence.
The rising "steam" frosted the trees all around the lake.
