High Water Update- December 10, 2003 Gary Scott made an official measurement of the water level at the control dam at Sylvia Lake at noon Wednesday December 10th (48 hours P.B. - Post Boom!) Gary has been the lead activist in controlling the lake level for the past 25 years...many helpers have learned from his advice. He often can be found waist deep in different areas of the creek downstream from the railroad culvert disassembling the beavers most recent efforts. Hopefully he can take it easy for the rest of this season as the flow from the lake is excellent. Town of Fowler Nuisance Animal Control Officer Tim Prashaw has seen no activity by the beavers, but will continue his surveillance. Photo 2 shows the proof of our success - The lake level at the dam pre-Boom was 31." 48 hours later, it dropped four and a quarter inches - According to our formula that's 17 million gallons! Another 3 inches and we will have total control of the level and will be able to adjust the outflow by adding or removing boards in the dam as necessary.
